Yesterday I went up to the university campus to attend a lecture. I got to the campus fairly early and wandered around, which was sort of interesting. So much has changed since I finished my undergrad six years ago. Going back to campus makes me feel old, because so many of the students look so young. I thought back to my undergrad. I spent a lot of time carrying around thick books, drinking a lot of coffee, stomping around in Doc Marten boots, and scowling. When I look back on it, I realize not much has changed.
I attended a lecture given by Mark Abley in a room that I used to have a class in. Abley gave a talk about his book "Spoken here- travels among threatened languages". The lecture was introduced by one of my former English professors. Talk about deja vu.
