Yep, I'm sick. I have a bad cold.

Yesterday I was thinking about "mottos/quotations to live by."

Several years ago, I had a conversation with my friend Cam about this. He said, "My mottos are kind of cheesy, but I'm a cheesy sort of guy. His mottos were- "To thine own self be true" and "Work hard, but play harder."

I don't know if I live by the following mottos/quotations, but they definitely influence me, and affect the way I choose to live my life.

My mottos are-

Make positive effort for the greater good.

This was said by Katagiri Roshi, a Zen priest. I think about it a lot, especially when I have to make decisions, or do something I don't want to do.

It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop.

This was said by Confucius. I use this one to motivate myself to do things, and convince myself to continue forward with my writing career.

Treat others how you want to be treated.

This is self-explanatory. It comes from somewhere, but was also said to me quite frequently by my parents. My parents also told me to, "Take responsibility for your actions", which is another motto I try to live by.

What are your mottos?
