Yesterday I tried cooking with seaweed. I made a concoction from Mark Bittman's "How to cook everything vegetarian". It contained shitake mushrooms, seaweed and soybeans. The recipe called for hijiki, but I was unable to find hijiki in either the T and T or Planet Organic grocery store, so I tried to substitute wakame. It was okay, but not something that I would ever make again. My house now reeks like seaweed, which was another unfortunate side effect.
