Mira Nair is set to direct the film version of Jhumpa Lahiri's book "The Namesake" .

The "Namesake" was one of my favourite books last year. I don't think the film will be able to stand up to the book, but at least they've got a good director for it. Kal Penn will also be starring as Gogol. I think Kal is a great comedic actor, so it'll be interesting to see how he does as a drama.

Speaking of "The Namesake", I really need to get my own copy. Such a fantastic book...

i'd heard she was thinking about it for a while, but didn't know it had been decided. cool - now i can read the book as "research" for my thesis. yay!
