What I've been reading lately
1. The Measure of a man by Sidney Poitier- Yes, it's an Ophrah book. But you know what? It was kind of good. I love Mr. Poitier and his story is very interesting. I also find that he is the epitome of dignity and grace, and I wish to emulate that style. This book was short, and consisted of Mr. Poitier's musings on his life. That's about it. (I read it during the commercial breaks during the Oscars, actually)
2. Be more chill by Ned Vizzini- Lay in bed one night and read this YA novel. It's the story of nerds who get super computers that make them cool. It's creative and pretty cool.
3. Zero gravity by Sharon English- Holy crap, this was good. Sharon English is a short story writer and I had to read this for review. Her stories are very good at tackling the sublime and the bizarre and I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. So fricking good. Sort of reminded me of Douglas Coupland's stories, except English wasn't trying as hard to be weird, or offbeat or to use pop culture.
4. Field notes from a catastrophe by Elizabeth Kolbert- Must Stop reading about climate change. Am getting scared. Guilt about driving is affecting me. Aaaaaaah! (But a decent read none the less. I'm starting to think that I could really dig environmental journalism. I love writing about agriculture and agricultural science. Maybe environmental writing is next?)
5. Before I wake by Robert Wiersema- Aka
