I have a reoccuring problem with dying disks this year. I have to retype yet another story that was on a disk that kicked the bucket. Fortunately, I have hard copies of all my work, but the whole thing still pisses me off.

Also, does anyone know how to change a bitmap into a jpeg? I need some new icons.

I received an email from the "Save the Gathercole initiative". This is a Saskatonian initiative to save this old building that is full of asbestos. I personally have no problems with the destruction of the building, but seeing as the space is valuable waterfront property, I'd like to see something nice constructed there. However, the email invited me to "come out to support the Gathercole and give the building a big hug." (Um, yeah.)

My father replied, "You should go give the building a kick in the ass."

So if I'm not living in Vancouver by this date, I'm still buying tickets to attend this event-

http://www.dalailamavancouver.org/dlv/events/spiritual.html

I've been wanting to see his Holiness for years. In fact, it appears that I've been chasing him around for years-

1. I tried to get to Ottawa to see him, but he was sick and didn't come.
2. He was supposed to come to Mongolia when I was there, but then the Chinese government wouldn't let him go because of stupid SARS.

As a result, I am bound and determined to go see him in Vancouver.

Sure, lots of women chase men around the world. My chosen man just happens to be a bald smiling monk in his 60s.

The last story that I wrote has been misplaced, which means that I am now rewriting it for the third time. I may start another story, because I am very sick of this one. It appears that my parents' new computer had a disk reading problem, as one of my disks will read in my computer but not in theirs.

Anyway, I'm tired of this.

Coldest place on Earth
Sask. endures record-breaking temperatures

Even the Antarctic seemed balmy compared to Saskatchewan's Key Lake on Wednesday.

Environment Canada said Key Lake was the coldest place in the world, with temperatures that dipped to -52.3 C.

Jay Anderson couldn't find any place colder.

"I looked all through Siberia and Greenland and northern Europe and down in Antarctica, and there's just nobody that cold," the Environment Canada meteorologist said in an interview.

Vostok, the Russian base located in the middle of Antarctica, was significantly warmer than Key Lake, at -28 C.

"There was nobody that was even close," Anderson said.

Key Lake, a 570-kilometre flight north of Saskatoon, consists of a uranium mill and a residence for the workers. Only 175 employees were on-site Wednesday, braving the bitter cold.

Did anyone see the movie "Thirteen"? The parental units (who are both youth social workers) and I started watching it, but got bored. Both of them are familiar with teen destruction, and I'm highly critical and found it difficult to care about the characters. We ended up turning it off. I guess it was supposed to be "shocking", but all three of us weren't impressed.

Damn blizzard warning, I actually wanted to go out tonight!!

Anyway, I'm interested in thoughts or opinions about "Thirteen".
