I worked another shift at the film festival yesterday. One of the events was a special screening by invite only. You had to have a free ticket to attend. Most of the people showed up at the right time, but there were people who showed up half an hour to an hour late. Some of them hadn't picked up their tickets yet, and argued with me so I would let them in.

In my previous shift at the film fest, there were also some other people who went to the movie an hour late. This, to me, is both rude and pointless. What a waste of time and money! Not only that, it's rude to the other people who came on time and who are already sitting in the theatre.

The guy who worked at the movie theatre told me that this is quite commonplace. That really surprised me.

Yesterday I went to the movie theatre to buy some gift certificates. As I was entering, two Buddhist monks were in line to hand their tickets over to the ticket taker. They were both wearing jackets over their robes.

"What are you going to see?" I asked one, immensely curious.

"What?" he said, and then turned away from me to give his ticket to the ticket taker. I listened to the ticket taker say, "That's in theatre 7."

I then went and bought my gift certificates, and asked the cashier what was in Theatre 7.

Apparently, the monks were going to see Derailed

I'm somewhat amused by the robots in the video for the Beck song "Hell yes." The best way to see the video is go to go Beck.com, and click on the video section. Then go to the video "Hell yes."

Those robots are apparently the Sony QRio robots. They are currently available in Japan, but will not be available in North America for several years.

B* and I went to see Mirrormask today. I didn't think it was a perfect movie, but it was enjoyable and visually stunning, and some parts were rather funny and Gaimanesque. There were some things that were so creative that I just loved them, but I won't go into detail because I don't want to spoil people. I think I had a few problems with the pacing and think the movie would have worked better as a graphic novel, but overall, I liked it. I also think that if you're not a fantasy fan, you might want to skip this one.

In addition, I loved the hair of the main actress. I thought there was a resemblance, and B* agreed. What do you think?

I think I have an idea for next year's Halloween costume.

While walking in Boston Common, we came about this bizarre sculpture . I immediately asked B* to snap a pic of it since it was one of the more bizarre statues I've seen. Does anyone know the history of it?

Another person on flickr took a photo that offers a better view

A few years ago, I began waxing nostalgic for a certain Barbie game that I played at a babysitter's when I was in elementary school. In the game, Ken would call Barbie (the player). He would tell you where you were going, and you would have a certain amount of time to go shopping and get dressed and back in time so that he could take you on a date. The game had really cheesy graphics and horrible music. However, since it was so horribly sexist and strange, I really wanted to find it. After a certain amount of googling, B* was able to find a link to a description and screen shots of this particular game! I recommend reading this website description of the game in question, as it's funnier than anything I could write about it.

I might even download the game and play it, just to amuse myself.

B* sent me this link, which revealed one of President Bush's bizarre fetishes .

I love it when people think of smart-ass, amusing things. This dude, who was present at the Mr and Mrs Smith premiere, bottled some "celebrity air" after Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrived. He put the air for sale on Ebay. I'm not sure if the air sold, or was removed, but the bidding went up to $699.

More info and pics here and here .

ETA- The item has been removed since air molecules cannot be auctioned. Damn.
