2004 is not over, but I've got some time and I'm waxing nostalgic today. Here's what happened. I published a lot of non-fiction pieces, and a fiction story in "Strike the Wok" (TSAR Books). I hosted a "Fuck Valentine's day" party, where I tried to make a bleedy heart cake and I fell in love with "Apples to apples." I travelled to Vancouver twice. I began my really silly project called "The Oscar project". I temped at more organizations than you can shake a stick at. I met a lot of great writers. I attended a Chinese New Year dinner and parade. I spent a lot of time with my parents, and my beloved dog McGregor. On the S'toon friend front, I spent a fair amount of time hanging with my friend Ramona, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. I had some good conversations with my brother and discovered Degrassi Next Generation. In April 2004, B* and I took a trip to Seattle, which was my first visit to the United States.
At the beginning of May, I went treeplanting. I saw a lot of wildlife, met a lot of crazy people, and got to ride in a helicopter. Whee!
At the end of July, I finished treeplanting and volunteered at the Saskatoon Fringe Festival. I turned 28 on August 13. On August 17, I moved to Vancouver, where I now live. Since then, I've temped at a few places, taken over full duties as literary editor of Ricepaper magazine, volunteered at the Vancouver International Writers Festival, met a new cousin and, got a little bit of freelance work. I've seen Le Tigre and Michael Franti. The editor at Frontenac House expressed interest in my poetry manuscript. I went to Victoria with my mom and saw the Egyptian Exhibit. I work at Chapters, and I'm freelancing and looking for more work. I've been cooking a fair amount and making new things. I love my neighbourhood and I like my house and my roommates. I've met a lot of cool people including many Vancouver people on lj. This weekend, I will finally get to meet [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]! I've met a lot of really great people this year, and I spend a fair amount of time with B*, who makes me very happy. I'll be spending Christmas on the island with my relatives. So all in all, it's been a great year, and I'm very thankful.
