The Oscar Project- The Godfather
Apr. 16th, 2005 04:30 pmThe latest addition to the Oscar Project is The Godfather , which won the best picture in 1972. This movie is constantly referred to in pop culture, so I was sort of excited to see it. While it did have its moments, I have to say that I was largely unimpressed. Marlon Brando and Pacino were both pretty good, but I just couldn't get into it. There were some scenes that I enjoyed, and I can definitely see how this movie has affected films that came after it, but it's not high on my list.
If it's high on your list, could you tell me why?
EDITED- Roger Ebert's piece on the Godfather make its popularity a little more clear to me
