I was telling B* about this, and thought it sounded kind of fun. I haven't decided if I'm going to go yet, but I'll post the info for anyone else.

what: Can't Stop the Serenity screening of Joss Whedon's Serenity to benefit Equality Now.
when: Saturday, June 24th at 2:15 pm.
where: Pacific Cinematheque, 1131 Howe Street.
how: Tickets can be purchased via PayPal at the Vancouver Browncoats Meetup site or the event blog. Service charges will be added with PayPal. Tickets will be available at the door, and can also be purchased in person at any Vancouver Browncoats gathering between now and the event.

Tickets are $13 until May 31st, $15 after. We've got some really amazing door prizes and some even more amazing ones on the drawing board (I wish I could tell you, because they're seriously rad, but if they don't happen, I will be sad and you will be sad).

For more information, e-mail serenityscreeningvancouver@yahoo.ca.

I've been revising the manuscript this weekend. Some of my files were screwed, so I wanted to have one workable copy for myself and the publisher. I also got a nice e-mail from the publisher saying how pleased they were to be publishing my book and that the contract will be e-mailed to me next week. Revisiting the manuscript has been good and I've been pretty immersed in it for the past two days. I want to finish it by the end of the long weekend.

Once I sign the contract, I'm going to talk about some of my fears and feelings about this publication, because it's an incredibly emotional experience for me. I am still having a hard time believing it.

I read today that "Frontenac" (the publisher that is publishing me) won the Publisher of the Year award at the Alberta Book awards. That's pretty damn awesome.

I've been working on this project for years. The other book project which I've been working on for most of this year is currently sitting with a publisher and it's out of my hands. Having a project accepted and another out of my hands is a strange feeling for me and it makes me feel somewhat directionless. I have decided to start working on some short story collections. My problem is that half of my stories are YA and the other half are not and I don't have enough of either to produce a viable manuscript at this point. I'll keep at it, and try to send some of these out and find them homes. I intend to do Nanowrimo this year, as I have two ideas for novels and I know that having a set time period will help me start on one.

I did do some other things today. I went to the farmer's market, did some errands on the Drive and went to see "The Notorious Bettie Page." I haven't been to a movie in a theatre in a while and I'm pretty sure it's because of my new schedule. I found it much easier to go to the movies with my old schedule because it was easy for me to just whip off to a matinee.
