Fun exercise with the teens
Apr. 20th, 2009 08:58 amYesterday we worked on point of view in the teen writing group. This was the quietest and most subdued class we've had as everyone just seemed a little burnt out and low energy. I managed to think up a great assignment. Everyone in the class had to find a book, and rewrite a section of it using another point of view. Then we discussed the strengths and weaknesses of each point of view and why the author had chosen to use a particular point of view. It was really cool. I also realized that my teens have come to meetings even if they have bad colds. This is extremely flattering because it made me realize that they do really value what I'm teaching and what we're doing. I love this group and working with these teens has been a phenomenal experience :)
