Today in Saskatoon it's "Job shadowing day." All Grade 9s are going to work with their parents to see what their parents actually do. I think there are three ninth graders here today. I've forgotten how young 14 year-olds actually look. It's a cruel trick of nature that you look gangly and zitty just when your hormones are starting to rage.
I don't know if there were job shadowing programs when I was younger. Since my parents are social workers and most of their work is confidential, I wouldn't have been able to shadow them anyway.
When I was younger, I sometimes used to wish that they owned a family business that I could work at to earn extra money. You can't get any extra income or pitch in to help when your parents are social workers.
