I'm shocked...

I just read that Jeffrey Eugenides (author of the excellent book "The Virgin Suicides"), has won the Pulitzer prize for his book "Middlesex". "Middlesex" is a book about a hermaphrodite, only Eugenides starts out by describing the hermaphrodite's lineage and family and doesn't get into the meat of the story until later. This book is about 800 pages. I have mixed feelings about it.

Anyway, that's surprising news to me.

Last year's Pulitzer Prize winner was "Empire Falls", which I loved.
