It happened one night was the best picture winner in 1934. It starred Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable in a story about a spoiled heiress who hides from her fiancee and father, and who ends up on a runaway journey with a newspaper man. I liked this movie, as I like both the leads. This is the first movie I've ever seen with Colbert, and I found her both funny and incredibly beautiful. I always enjoy Gable. This film has some suggestive scenes, which I'm sure were rather risque at the time. Now, they just seem sort of sexy and tantalizing. This film is also noteworthy because it has been blamed for the decline of the undershirt. In one scene, Gable takes off a jacket and shirt. It took too long for him to take off his jacket, shirt and undershirt, so he simply decided not to wear an undershirt. As a result, undershirt sales went down, and undershirt manufacturers tried to sue Columbia pictures.

It is also reported that Fritz Freleng, who helped create Looney Tunes, drew several inspirations from this film to help him create the character of Bugs Bunny.
