Naked- Black women bare all about their bodies- edited by Akiba Solomon- A collection of essays about black women and their bodies. Fairly empowering, but nothing too earth shattering in here.
Love is a mix tape by Rob Sheffield- I absolutely loved this book and it made me cry my face off. It's a memoir of a man and his relationship with his wife, who dies at age 31. He chronicles their relationship through music and mix tapes. This was sad and beautiful and perfect for anyone who has ever recorded songs off the radio in the 1990s.
New Moon-Stephenie Meyer- Um. No comment.
The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga- The Man Booker winner failed to impress me. The narrative voice was good and it effectively depicted class relations, but I was not wowed at all.
Through Black Spruce by Joseph Boyden- Another beautiful book about family, loneliness, life up north, relationships and First Nations people. I want to read this again and savour it. Winner of the Giller prize.
Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer- No comment.
The Graveyard book by Neil Gaiman- For some reason, I couldn't get into this book at all and was disappointed by it. Not sure why.
