Help an indie film tour!!

Since all kinds of people read this journal, I'll give you some information that I received today about a film tour for Canadian independent films. The tour is conducted by Jonathan Culp of Satan Macnuggit films out of Toronto. I unfortunately missed the tour last time, but was able to help him write press releases for his Saskatoon stop.
SATAN MACNUGGIT VIDEO ROAD SHOW - BOOKING!
With the feature more or less behind us, we are really
clawing away at booking the Road Show. Our team is now
complete - Siue Moffat on programme, Wendy Banks on
web site, Rose Bianchini media assassin, and myself as
driver/projectionist.
The first draft of the press release is below. Check
it out. "Recycled Cinema" is going to be a much artier
take on the usual activist prognoses than usual - no
protest docs here, but plenty of anti-Bush, pro-queer,
anti-corporate, pro-bike, pro-frequent urination, you
name it.
I've got a list in my notebook of 51 towns we want to
come to, and it isn't complete. If you want to help
put on a Video Road Show where you are, let me say it
again - LET ME KNOW. We can still use lots of help in
organizing venues, postering, etc, and as of now we're
still wide open as far as what towns we hit. We WOULD
like to come back to almost everywhere we went last
time (not Tillsonburg though!) - so now is the time to
announce yourself.
Be advised that we are also planning a major activist
initiative on the tour, an attempt to move toward an
ambitious national support network for DIY film and
video artistes. The intention to begin with will be
just to get people talking. If you have ideas about
priorities and methods, feel free to chime in. Details
will start to leak out next month.
So here it is...get ready!

presents
RECYCLED CINEMA
DATE, TIME
VENUE, ADDRESS
ADMISSION FEE (usually $5)
Satan Macnuggit Popular Arts is proud to present
"Recycled Cinema" - an innovative two-hour touring
programme of subversive animations, crafty lo-fi
shorts, and culture jamming collages.
At running times ranging from 60 seconds to 18
minutes, and with budgets averaging under $100, these
films are healthily REDUCED from the average Hollywood
behemoth. They RE-USE old technology like the VHS
camcorder and Super 8 film, for fun and economy. And
they RECYCLE imagery from mass media in supremely
satirical collage pieces that you won=92t see on the
tube any time soon.
The 18 films in the programme pit cardboard-box robots
against crazed motivational speakers, dyke superheroes
against trailer trash transvestites, and dum-dum
presidents against humanity. The lineup includes:
"Become the Media" by Siue Moffat
"State of the Union" by Marc Adornato
"Work" and "Life=92s Hard" by Meesoo Lee
"Miss Edmonton Teenburger 1983" by Amy Lockhart
"Compliance Culture" by Bennett Jones-Phillips
"Robots Don=92t Wear Hats" by Mare Sheppard
"Plasticman and the Justice League" by Jonathan Culp
"Pink Eyed Pet" by Allyson Mitchell and Lex Vaughn
and "Super 8 Super Hero," a series of shorts by Chris
Mills, Stacey DeWolfe, Jonathan Culp, Brenda G, Rose
B, Nancy MacDougall, Laurie Ward, Anne McLeod, Will
Munro, Lex Vaughn, Marc Moscato and Siue Moffat.
No Cinemascope means no Cineplex: the Satan Macnuggit
Video Road Show takes the low road, visiting over
three dozen bars, barns and back rooms from Dawson
City, YK to St. John=92s, NF in August-November 2003.
Come and check out the cutting, slicing and dicing
edge of Canadian indie cinema!
Satan Macnuggit Popular Arts has produced and
distributed videos, zines and music since 1996. We
support grassroots art which is radical in form,
content and method. Check out our web site at
www.satanmacnuggit.com (Tour promo online ca. August
15).
