I woke up this morning after having a strange dream in which Willow from Buffy was counselling me about my lovelife and telling me that I would be much happier if I dated women.

So that's what I get for looking at those Buffy wrap party pics before I went to bed :)

Anyway, I'm sort of annoyed with myself. Yesterday I called Ingrid's friend Ron, to ask him what he wants Ingrid to pick him up from Canada. He asked for 2 tins of maple syrup. I also called to introduce myself and ask him if there were hiking plans for the weekend. He told me that his wife was checking into the hospital to give birth, but that I should call later that night.

I never did, because I thought it was impolite to call someone when their wife is going to have a baby.

Today I realized that I should have called, since he told me to and it's probable that other people are going hiking today. Damn.

I'm going to do some laundry, read, study some Mongolian language and then tour the National history museum.

Have set up a photo album.....

The first is a traditional ger, the second is me hiking. I'm near a sacred tree and beside me is an ovoo (which is a sacred cairn.) I look really butch in the pic.

The third is some men dressed in traditional clothes outside the state department store.

(The album is called Mongolia)

Here's the link for the site of an Australian guy who rode his horse across Mongolia.

Today I went to the Mongolian Modern Museum of Art. It was pretty cool. There were a lot of landscape paintings, paintings of horses and camels, and paintings of people. I really like the colours used in Mongolian paintings. They like bright colours and huge canvases.

Interestingly enough, there was not a single painting of a naked person.

Most of the paintings were done in oil. There were buckets of water in the gallery to help with the lack of humidity in Mongolia. (At least that's what I assume they were for.)

After that, I went for an ice cream bar and ran into Kate. I walked her to the Internet cafe and talked with her and some of her classmates. They're all really busy working on papers.

The movie gods have smiled upon me this weekend. Well, actually the channel that shows pirated screener DVDs has smiled upon me.

Yesterday I got to watch Spiderman, today it's "Almost Famous", which I adore.

And this movie goes perfectly with a couple shots of the nice Mongolian vodka that I bought today :) (Gotta practice for the countryside.)
