Thriller in Lego
Dec. 20th, 2004 09:44 am"Thriller" by Michael Jackson was a very influential music video for me. At the tender age of 8, my dream was to be a special effects technician or make up artist. Rick Baker designed the makeup for the zombies, and he was my god for several years. In fact, I got so into stage makeup that I used to put elaborate stage makeup on my face for fun. At one point, I made it look like my face was melting, and then went downstairs to show my mom just as she was taking the laundry out of the machine. Fun times were had by all.
As someone who took dance lessons for over 16 years, I'm also a sucker for choreographed dance scenes, and Michael Jackson creates some of the best.
So I was quite pleased to watch a recreation of Thriller done with Lego . It's the long version, which is about 4 minutes. (Link courtesy of Darren .

Santa Claus is creepy...
Dec. 20th, 2004 10:55 amSince I have to listen to so many Christmas carols at work, I've come to the conclusion that a lot of them are quite creepy.
1. First, there's "Santa Claus is coming to town". It's about an old guy watching you sleep and be awake. This freaks me out.
2. "I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"- is also freaky. Another lyric of the song goes "I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus." I don't see how this could be fun for a child. If I saw my mother tickle some strange bearded man, I'd still be freaked out. And I'm 28.
3. "Baby, it's cold outside"- is a creepy song. As one of my co-workers put it, it's a song about "an ultimate sleaze." Just read the lyrics.
