Jan. 16th, 2005 09:06 amThis has been a very nice and peaceful weekend. On Saturday, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] drove up from Seattle and we had a Chicklit meetup. Unfortunately, none of the other Vancouverites attended, but it was nice to meet [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and we had a nice time talking and perusing the racks at Main Street's "Pulp Fiction." I hope to attend a chicklit meet-up in Seattle next time they decide to have one.
After this, I went home and watched The Station Agent on my new DVD player. Watching it was a real treat for several reasons. I have the spatial ability of a stone and setting up appliances is not one of my strengths. I had to struggle for a good half hour before I figured out how to get the audio on my DVD player.
I was rewarded by "The Station Agent." This is a great movie about a midget who moves to a small town after he inherits the train depot in the town. It's about his friendships and interactions with other people in the town. It's a touching and thoughtful movie, which you should really see if you enjoy acting that is natural and understated, good dialogue, and "slice of life" plot. There is also a lot of wonderful background information about trains, which made me nostalgic for the train society guys that I met in Wainwright, Alberta.
