What I've been reading lately
Mar. 15th, 2005 02:14 pm1. Around the bloc- Stephanie Elizondo Griest- A young Latina journalist recounts her time spent in China, Cuba and Russia. She's truly a woman of my own heart. I was very envious as I read this book, and I really enjoyed it. I'm fascinated with communism after spending time in Mongolia, and I'd like to travel to these countries.
2. Ten Big Ones- Janet Evanovich- the latest Stephanie Plum novel. Good, comforting, funny, etc.
3. The Opposite of Fate- a collection of musings by Amy Tan- Some of the essays were stronger than others, but I really enjoyed this book in general. Amy Tan had a pretty crazy childhood, and some really strange adventures. I also enjoyed reading about the process of adapting "The Joy Luck Club" from a book to a movie.
I then became a serial book starter. I read several essays in "Bluesprint" by Wayde Compton and part of "The Artificial White Man" by Stanley Crouch. Now I seem to have settled on "Vancouver" by David Cruise and Alison Griffiths.
