I forgot to mention that I read "Fruit" by Brian Francis. It's the story of a 13 year old gay boy living in Sarnia, Ontario. It's mostly a coming of age story. It's both funny and sad at the same time, and I simply devoured it. At some points, I almost began crying. The narrative voice is excellent.

Julie's crap ass story

If you've taken the bus or the skytrain recently, you may have seen the ads for Julie's story. One ad features a woman swimming in a black bikini which reads "Today I wore a bikini for the first time. Ask your doctor about Julie's story."

B* looked it up, and found this site . He discovered that the ad is for Xenical, a diet product which apparently makes you excrete fat. Side effects include trouble controlling bowel movements, fatty deposits in your stool and irregular menstrual bleeding. Yum.
