Apr. 14th, 2009 04:44 pmI got back yesterday and have STUPID amounts of work to do today. I spent the day doing my taxes and am going to meet with my accountant on Friday. I also found out that I have to go out of town on Thursday. Well, I don't REALLY have to, but it will result in less work in the long run, so I'm going to do it.
Fortunately, I had a fantastic vacation. I generally just spent a lot of time hanging out with my mom and dad. We watched a lot of movies "When did you last see your father?" (which wasn't great except that you get to see Colin Firth touch himself in a bathtub), "Brick Lane" (okay), "Extreme Encounters at the End of the World" (great cinematography, a bit slow), and "Catch and Release" (it was on TV and was somewhat amusing.)
I also got to visit with my good friend Heather, play with Fergus, walk Fergus, cuddle Fergus and wrestle Fergus and attended an interesting session on Ecosystems Based Conservation Management hosted by my friend Pete. The session was done by Herb Hammond , who creates sustainable plans for development using a conservation and indigeneous based model. Basically, what he does is use a forest-like model and then plan development into the model, preserving diversity and fragile forest life. Economics is incorporated as one facet of the forest model. It's pretty interesting stuff, but hard for me to describe.
Since Dad was pretty much out of commission, Mom and I also went to our family friend's for a Friday Easter dinner. My holiday was well needed and well deserved, and now I'm back at the grind. Can't believe how busy I am already. Yikes.
