Today I finished watching Chariots of Fire, which won "Best Picture" in 1981. It's the story of two British runners who compete in the 1924 Olympics in France. It is done in true 80s style, complete with bad hair, and a lurid 80s synthesizer soundtrack. There are a lot of shots of people running to the synthesizer music. I can't tell you much about this movie, because I found it boring and I didn't care about the characters or the plot. At one point, I walked over to my book shelf and started reading a recipe for empanadas. I'm sure this is a fine film; it just didn't do anything for me, despite the shots of half naked men running on the beach.
