All he wants to do is dance, dance

While at the aforementioned dinner, a friend of mine asked a mysterious question, which has no answer. In fact, it's a complete mystery, much like the Caramilk secret. The question in question was, "What do you do when you find out a co-worker has an embarassing blog?"
This prompted me to reveal that I am a regular reader of the blog of a 19 year old drug addled gay hustler from Kingston , but this is not what my friend had in mind.
He revealed that his co-worker is The Daily Dancer . He is a computer software programmer, who webcams himself dancing about 3 times a week, and posts it to the web.
At first I thought this sounded kind of strange and infinitely geeky, but after watching a few of the videos, I have to applaud his creativity and bravado. In my belief, the daily dancer is simply capturing something that many of us love to do- dance with abandon in our homes! His dancing is really no more geeky than my desire to watch all the Oscars and blog about them, my love of all things teenage, or my desire to write the Great Canadian teen novel. He's creative, and the dances are different. Plus, he's lost 35 pounds since starting the website and some of the dances really made me laugh. There's nothing wrong in bringing a little bit of joy to someone's life.
In some ways, watching the daily dancer made me wonder if this is what it's come down to. Do we all need and crave attention so much that we are willing to put our most private selves on the Internet? (Yes, I realize the irony of this) Do we all have the need to be creative?Do we all have these multi-faceted layers that program computers by day and dance by night?
Also, I have to tell [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] to scroll down and watch the "Do you love me" dance for the homage to "Dirty Dancing."
I think this is a question that I will be pondering.
