Anne Rice made an appearance at my Chapters on Saturday. I wasn't working, but I did want to go down there. However, I didn't want to see her enough to miss my yoga class and stew making.

Apparently, she used to come in to her events in a coffin. But now she has found God, and has recently started writing the biography of Christ. According to the reports, she was quite quiet and looked rather angry at the end of her presentation. She did not do a reading and only signed books. She requested mixed nuts in her contract. These mixed nuts were all consumed by her assistant, who also managed to steal all of the fancy pens that we bought for Anne Rice to use to sign with.

Jack Whyte and Vikram Seth have both come into Raincoast. I wasn't there when Mr. Seth was there, and Mr.Whyte just came in, signed a few things and left. Apparently Vikram Seth is quite charming, and chattered away while he signed about 300 copies of his book.

Bets on the assistant being the one who wrote the contract?

Perhaps Anne Rice will soon start showing up at events lugging a full size crucifix?

We already talked about that at work. We thought it would have been interesting.

the awesomest 2 older ladies came into the bookstore the other day and one of them was looking for the new anne rice book because her daughter-in-law wanted it. she herself was anti-anne rice and was hee-larious talking about the time she started to read one of her vampire books.

Have you read Christ the Lord or is it not one you're interested in? I have to say, I'm having a hard time getting through it. It takes work to make Jesus boring, but she's doing a good job so far.

I haven't read any Anne Rice since Tale of the Body Thief, and I'm not particularly interested in this one.

I agree that it takes work to make Jesus boring.

Have you read "Lamb" by Christopher Moore? I liked that book.

I heard Vikram Seth on the radio last Saturday morning (it must have been North by Northwest, the show that's on before The House). He was hilarious and much fun. I wanted to meet him.
