blue_lotus13Yesterday was a day of stress. I was phoned at 9:00 by a photographer from the Sun, who wanted to come over and take my photo. Needless to say, I was not ready. They scheduled a shoot for 2, and then the photographer phoned again to say that he was at the doctor's and would be late.
During this time, I got turned down for a cool contract job because I can't speak Cantonese. However, I wasn't offended, because I felt that the Cantonese component was important and I might be able to get some work with the project in the future.
At 2:30, the photographer showed up. I was waiting for him outside. On the way into the house, he decided that he liked the light behind me, and so we took a bunch of photos outside in the rain, while I froze. I guess I must have looked like a scared rabbit, because he kept on telling me to "give him feeling."
Inside, we took more photos of me in front of one of my roommate's paintings. We took the painting down, set it on an ironing board, and backlit me with a light placed on one of our bookcases. Classy!
He said the photos were great but I'm sure the scared rabbit look was out in full force, since he kept on telling me to, "Give him more feeling." At that time, I wished I was a watcher of "America's Next Top Model", because I felt completely clueless. After the photographer left, I ran (literally) to another meeting downtown. This meeting went fairly well. After the meeting, I went to work at the bookstore, where I was able to catch my breath for a while.
During this whole time, I'd submitted the copy for the Vancouver Sun piece. The editor told me she would give me feedback. I tend to get nervous when I'm writing for new editors, and I spent most of the day (figuratively) biting my nails. Finally, she emailed back and I was reassured and the stress of the day ended.
