bad teen movies- When I'm stressed or feeling crappy, I love to watch movies geared at teenagers and starring teens. I prefer the good ones, like American Pie, which is one of my favourite movies, but I'll watch any teen movie, particularly if it involves dancing. I blame this obsession on my mom, who started me off watching teen movies in the 80s. I particularly like to watch these if I'm having a bad day and need to watch something that doesn't require me to think.


cairn terriers- Toto in the Wizard of Oz was a cairn terrier. My parents bought their first cairn, McDuff, six years before I was born. We've had four dogs since I was born, and they've all been male cairn terriers. My family loves the breed. They're small, tough little dogs that love to cuddle and are fiercely loyal. If I own my own dog, which I'd like to someday, I'll probably get a cairn, even though they're rather expensive. They're not very common in Canada, and I generally get really excited when I meet another cairn owner or see a cairn on tv. For the record, our dogs have been- McDuff, who lived to be 12, Angus who lived to be 17, McGregor, who only lived to be 4 because he has some kidney problem, and Fergus, who is one and a half. I love our dogs.

plaid skirts- I adore plaid skirts. I don't wear them that often, but I do have a collection. I especially like the short ones that evoke naughty schoolgirls. At one point, I think I had 7 plaid skirts.

lemon-lime- One of my favourite flavours. I love anything that's sour or tastes like lemon-lime. Witness my love of Fresca, barlime and Sprite, lemonade, limon gelato and anything else that's sour.

Johnny Depp- Do I have to explain this one? I've liked Johnny Depp since the 90s. I didn't watch 21 Jump Street, but I've watched a lot of his movies. He's very pretty. It's all about the cheekbones and his eyes. Plus, he tends to pick really interesting and fun roles. Lots of people love Johnny.

Canadiana- Man, I love being Canadian. I laugh at anything that is pan-Canadian or that makes fun of being Canadian. I also like to learn about Canadian history (since I missed out because I studied International Studies). I read a lot of Canadian books, and love to learn more about our culture. I love our self deprecating humour.

paper- I'm a writer, so I love paper. I love notebooks, and blank sheets of paper and the feel of various kinds of paper in my hands. I love to go into fancy paper shops and look at exotic papers. I can't have candles in my home, because there's far too much paper in my house.

I hear you about the Cairns (well, and the Canadiana and paper too), we got our first one by chance when I was 6 from a crazy woman my sister babysat for. My parents fell in love with the breed then too. She was a small one from a puppy mill who was tough as nails and lived to be 18. My parents are since now on numbers 3 & 4. It is, in fact, really fun to have two Cairns at the same time because they are such playful dogs. I get really excited when I see them on the street too.
