Today is my first day volunteering at the Writers Festival. I'm going to be working at the book table at Performance Works this evening, selling books and assisting with the signing. I'll be working at events for the next four days.

Yesterday I interviewed Ange Zhang. He is a fascinating man whose life was directly affected by the Chinese Cultural Revolution. I'll be back with more about that later.

I've been hired for seasonal, part time work at Chapters, which is good because it guarantees me some income.

I was so happy to read that Kevin Smith will be appearing in 3 episodes of Degrassi . This made my day. One of the reasons that I like Smith is because he is such an average guy. He has all these strange dreams and desires, and is as thrilled as a little kid when he gets to accomplish them.

I have two T-shirts that people always comment on. One is my "The Goonies" t-shirt. Another one is my "Degrassi Junior High" T-shirt. I was wearing my Degrassi shirt when I came to Vancouver in August. As I got on the plane, a middle aged woman elbowed the woman in the seat beside her, pointed at my shirt and loudly proclaimed "There she is!" I think she was commenting on my shirt.

Just when you thought the stupidity was over, a new book on Dating Asians get published. This book is basically a "how to guide" for clueless white people.

EDITED- lj user= "alero" says that this is probably satire. She's probably right, but I've seen a lot of dating guides out there like "How to date a white woman", "How to date an Asian woman" etc, that are COMPLETELY SERIOUS.
