Well, we've been planting in Kananaskis for the past ten days. It's pretty crazy. I've been snowed on, rained on and hailed on. One day, I cried while planting, out of frustrating. The planting here is nothing like the stuff we were doing in Slave Lake. I hated it at first, but I'm slowly getting used to it. However, it's much harder on the body. Lugging trees up and down a mountain at a high altitude takes a lot out of you. I'm looking forward to getting back to Slave Lake. It seems like a lot has happened, and very little has happened at the same time. From the safety of a friend's car, I saw my first bearcub. That was pretty exciting. I also saw a dog which had accidentally eaten a pot cookie. That was disturbing. The dog was in a terrible state, twitching and exhausted.

At one point, there were about 100 planters in camp, which was just too many. However, half the crew left to another contract, and we are back to our small crew of 40, which is pleasant. Still I'm looking forward to getting back to Slave Lake, or finishing planting and getting on with my life.

Kananaskis ... was up there for the weekend some three weeks ago ... trail riding. Let's see, when was that ... the long weekend ... hmmm, more then three weeks. It's a family tradition, load up the horses, head into the woods, freeze to death on the trails. They've gone that same long weekend for the last seven years in a row and it's snowed everytime ... I must come from hardy stock because they had a blast ... most of the time (when I wasn't loaded out of my tree) I was miserable.

Hang in there ...
