I had a skin infection last week which resulted in me being in lots of pain. As a result, I didn't want to do much, so I spent a lot of time watching movies.

I watched:

1. Party Monster- an interesting film about the Club Kids and how excess resulted in murder. Based on a true story. Worth watching for Seth Green's performance, and the costumes in general.

2. Real Women have Curves- I really liked this one. It's the story of a young Latina and her coming of age. The young woman is played by America Ferrara. This was America's first role, and she's fantastic. She will be playing Carmen in the upcoming "Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants." There are a lot of great scenes between America's character, and her mother. It's the story of hard working Latinas, and loving yourself and your body despite stereotypes. For those who have seen it, the cellulite scene was by far my favourite.

3. Donnie Darko- B*, my roommate and I watched this on Friday night. I enjoyed the movie, even though I don't think I "got" it.

4. Parsley Days- an excellent Canadian film by Andrea Dorfman, the director of "Love that Boy." The story begins when a young woman finds out that she is pregnant. Her herbalist friend tells her to bring about her period/abort by eating and bathing in parsley, etc. However, the film is about relationships, friendships, and falling out of love. I like Andrea Dorfman's films because they have such a great aesthetic, and the characters remind me of people that I'd actually hang out with.

Donnie Darko rules, but I had to watch it twice to understand it and teh entire space/time continium gap thing.
Sorry to hear about your infection! I had a cold sore, so I watched just as many movies. Skin ailments are creepy and yuchy.

We did watch the Director's Cut, but I was still a bit confused. I'm not good with convoluted plots though. I'm much more into character development.
