Hardware trouble

My computer will not check errors or defragment. I think I will be taking it into the shop later this week. Has anyone else ever had this happen?

We had a computer that would crash while defragmenting. Make sure they check the fan and heatsink. Defragmenting often makes the computer run very hot.
