1. Low-carb diets can be a factor in bad breath. Choose carbs!
2. In 1862, the ratio of men to women in British Columbia was 200-1. As my co-worker put it, "That's one big bar fight." This was because of the gold rush, which brought a lot of men to the province, but not a lot of women. The importation of women started around this time period.
3. If "Brokeback Mountain" wins Best picture, it could be considered the third Western to do so, if it can be classed as a Western. I guess it's more of a Drama, with Western elements. (The other two Westerns which won were "Cimarron" and "Unforgiven.")

Date: 2006-01-19 06:20 pm (UTC)though, obviously, the nominations haven't been even called yet, i have strong feelings about brokeback for best picture (objective ones, not my personal preferences). king kong and the producers have both fallen flat, and munich is doing well with critics, and pretty well with audiences, but it's just not picking up momentum during awards season. crash is doing well with some awards groups, and capote as well, but brokeback is a juggernaut of good p.r., and it doesn't look like the backlash is destined to hit until well after march.
