Scary automobile accident

blue_lotus13I flipped my car over on its side last night. It had been a lovely day yesterday, and so a lot of snow had melted. Then in the evening, we got a blizzard, and I drove home through that. About 10 minutes from home, I hit a patch of ice on a turn, lost control and flipped my car on its side.
It happened extremely fast and next thing I knew, the driver side was on the ground and the passenger side was up in the air. I was in shock, so I couldn't figure out how to get out. I could see out the windshield and knew immediately that I was okay.
My first thought was to call 9-11, which I did. My connection died after I'd called myself an ambulance. (I was too in shock to call anything else.)
Fortunately, there were people around, so they came to talk to me through the window. Then one guy opened the passenger door. When I was calm enough to stand up, I stood on the side of my head rest and one of the big farm guys lifted me out. 9-11 called back after this, and I managed to ask for the RCMP.
Some local guys were able to put a tow on my car and move it to proper position.

Since I'd called 9-11, the RCMP showed up and I had to file a report. I was pretty shaken up, so I called my mom and talked to her until I calmed down.
I then went home, took a bath and went to bed. I'm okay, except my left shoulder and wrist are sore from the impact of my left side hitting the car door.

The most terrifying part was being in the car when it was on its side, looking out through the windshield and feeling as if I was trapped inside.

The car is still driveable. There are some pretty major dents and my insurance will take a hit. I'm trying not to be too upset about this, because the truly important thing is that I'm okay.
