What I've been reading lately

1. Windshifter by Linda Smith- a YA fantasy novel by a local author. It was a good novel and I could see Linda's tone, but it's not the kind of stuff I normally read.
2. Teen Angst, Nah... by Ned Vizzini- a collection of essays on teen life written by Ned Vizzini. Very funny and easy to read. I like the way Ned writes, especially when he's writing about his inability to dance and his love of Magic. Very cool.
3. A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway- Holy crap, this book was great. This non-fiction book talks about being a poor writer in Paris, and hanging out with literary greats like Ezra Pound and F.Scott Fitzgerald. I really enjoyed this one.
4. Forever Blue- by Ann Brashares- The fourth book in the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants- Fun, light and frothy, just like the other 3 books. I really liked this series.
5. On Beauty by Zadie Smith- I wish I'd studied this book in a class because there are a lot of motifs and themes that I probably missed. It's really a story about two families, love and the bonds between families. I always enjoy the ethnic relations in Smith's work and the nuances of her characters.
