Other movies that I've been watching

1. The Misfits- Clark Gable looks really old in this movie. At one point, he starts yelling "Gaylord, gaylord". He's referring to his son, but I couldn't help thinking that this portion of the movie didn't stand up very well. This is the last screen appearance by Gable and Marilyn Monroe. Monroe was certainly a gorgeous woman. She's luminous on screen, and she wears that dress with cherries on it, which is a complete classic. The story in this film is somewhat interesting, but not mind-blowing.
2.Planet of the Apes- the original version- I absolutely loved this movie. I thought it was smart, campy, and lots of fun. I loved the themes that were raised and loved the classic lines. "Get your stinking paws off me, you dirty ape!" Heston was fun to watch, and he's shirtless a lot.
3. Stage Fright- Not Hitchcock's best, but it gets pretty interesting near the end. Marlene Dietrich has fabulous stage presence and sings, "The Laziest girl in town." She wears over the top boas and dresses. Is she a drag icon? If so, I can completely see why.
4. Sleepless in Seattle- I just watched this to see what all the fuss was about and because it's constantly referenced. Cute, but not much there. I remember when Meg Ryan wasn't completely annoying.
