Dec. 24th, 2003 08:15 amI'm at work today. I'll be here until 4:30. I learned yesterday that my contract here is officially finished on January 9, so I'll be calling the agency to look for more temp work.
I saw the coolest car yesterday. It was decorated like a zebra. It had been painted with zebra stripes including a muzzle on the grill. It had ears and an attached tail, and the mane was made of some orange brooms attached to the roof. The licence plate read "Z Z Z". It was definitely a head turner.
Last night my friend Ramona and I went to see the movie "Camp." It's the story of kids who attend a musical theatre camp called "Camp Ovation." It was a bit uneven, but if you've ever been involved with the arts or musical theatre camp in particular, you would definitely get a few laughs out of it. In fact, R and I were laughing really hard during several sequences. It also did a cool job of depicting camp problems like romances, and friendship triangles. I liked the song and dance sequences, and there were some classic lines.
"You are one scary little girl."
"But that's like the holy grail of Musical theatre."
"After our drag queen party, they're trying to make us more like a regular camp."
I attended musical theatre camp for 3 summers, plus I have lots of experience in performing arts so I liked this movie.

I miss a lot of these activities, since they were such a big part of my life. In high school, I abandoned my dreams of theatrical performance and turned to writing, where I've been more or less mired ever since. This was because I realized that I was more talented at writing than I was at acting. I adore performing, and I'd like to eventually get more serious about dancing, so I can perform again. I also miss playing my guitar, but I suffer from hand cramps and contact dermatitis which makes it difficult to play. Perhaps I'll start practicing again in the summer, when my skin is better. Maybe I'll use my acting skills for community theatre or a Fringe play. I must admit that my years of drama classes have proved a tremendous benefit whenever I give a poetry reading or public speech.
