Oct. 31st, 2004 09:44 amB* and I attended the "Lost Souls" parade and event at Grandview park yesterday. Every year, the Public dreams group puts on a big parade and then some spooky exhibits. There were some very freaky costumes, including a big skeleton on stilts with huge hands and a ring wraith. Hundreds of people were in attendance, and many of them were dressed up. It was really quite impressive. In one corner, there were actors portraying the seven deadly sins, in another winged demons danced on tombstones. There was a pantomime about a demon chasing involving dance and drums. It was impressive, and I know that many of my readers who have passion for costumes, pantomime and theatre would have loved it.
One of the highlights were the firedancers. There was one firedancer who had a hula hoop and hula hooped with a ring of flame. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], have you ever seen/done this?

I'm quite fascinated with the Public dreams society, and I might get involved at a later date. As a child and a teenager, I loved dress up, costuming and performing. When I FINALLY get a job, I want to check out dance studios and start belly dancing again. I miss dancing a lot, but I just don't have the money right now.
