Cue the Fangirl SQUEEEEEE!
Jul. 20th, 2005 11:02 amI just received a pamphlet from the Vancouver International Writers Festival. Guess who will be giving a reading on October 6?!?!?! NEIL GAIMAN!!!!! Tickets are 13-15 $ and go on sale on September 1st at Ticketmaster.
He will be reading at Magee Secondary School at 6360 Maple Street at 7:00 pm. Who wants to attend with me?
This year's festival includes lots of Brits- Julian Barnes, Jonathan Coe, Alan Hollinghurst, CC Humphreys, and Simon Winchester are listed. (Perhaps I will go see Simon Winchester so I can kick him for referring to Cathay Pacific flight attendants as "little brown fuck machines.")
Margaret Atwood will be giving the Duthie lecture (may or may not attend that). I saw her read at McGill during "The Blind Assassin" tour, and she was actually quite funny. Alice Munro will also be appearing, and I should like to see her.
Canadians include- Neil Bissondath, Lorna Crozier, William Gibson, Thomas King, Charles Montgormery, Nelofer Pazira, Shani Mootoo and a bunch more!!
I volunteered last year, and it was a blast. I ended up at the bookselling table, which means that I got to sit in at a lot of events. I plan to volunteer this year.
